RECYCLING RULES AND NON-COLLECTED MATERIALS
Place at curbside NO EARLIER than the night before a scheduled collection.
RECYCLING RULES FOR CURBSIDE PICK-UP
Place recyclables in your recycling container bin or labeled container at curbside before 7:30 am on the designated collection day. Place a weight on top of the newspapers. Rinse food and beverage containers thoroughly.
NEWSPAPER/CARDBOARD
Recycle all weekly and daily newspapers, including inserts, magazines, junk mail & phone books. Corrugated cardboard-dry and free of contaminants and flattened, may be placed curbside with newspapers. Waxed cardboard and gray cardboard are not accepted.
COMMINGLED (GLASS, PLASTIC & METALS)
All PET and HDPE plastic containers, plastic, glass, and aluminum or tin food and beverage jars or containers, detergent containers, aerosol cans and clean aluminum foil. Rinse thoroughly. Labels and caps need NOT be removed. NO foam plastic materials, film plastic, plastic bags, vinyl, light bulbs, crystal, window glass, broken glass, ceramics, kitchenware, pesticide/herbicide bottles or any other containers containing potentially hazardous materials such as motor oil, pesticides or chemicals .
GRASS CLIPPINGS/FALL LEAVES
Grass clippings and leaves (yard waste) are picked up curbside on Mondays (North End) and Tuesdays (South End) from April through the 1st week of October. As of the second week of October Leaves and grass clippings are picked up on an UNSCHEDULED basis.
These materials may be placed in a container labeled "yard waste." Residents may obtain "yard waste" labels from the Highway Department and Town Hall at no charge. PLASTIC BAGS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
During October and November leaves and grass clippings may be raked into a pile at the curb.
All branch and brush must be separated from the grass and leaves.
NO PLASTIC BAGS ARE ALLOWED!
Leaves and grass clippings may be raked to the curb during October and November only. All brush and branches must be separated from the grass and leaves.
BRANCHES
Brush branches and brush must be placed at the curb, separate from leaves and tied with string only in bundles not greater than 4 feet in length, nor more than 40 pounds in weight.
METAL PICKUP
Includes the collection of metal appliances and other items. NO aluminum siding, paint cans, automobile parts, or scrap metal. The pickup of metal items shall be on Fridays each week except during holiday weeks. Place at curbside no earlier than the night before a scheduled collection.
NON-COLLECTED MATERIALS
Removal of tree trunks, stumps, rocks, dirt and construction materials must be arranged with a private carter or the contractor.
CHEMICALS
Household chemicals may be disposed of through Westchester County. Please call (914) 813-5425 for information.
TIRES, CAR BATTERIES, USED MOTOR OIL
Tires and car batteries must be disposed of through their place of purchase. Used motor oil must be disposed of at a gas station.
RECYCLING IS THE LAW, SUMMONSES WILL BE ISSUED TO PERSONS WHO VIOLATE THESE RULES.
RECYCLING DROP-OFF CENTER ON BURNHAM ROAD IS OPEN MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00 am - 3:30.
CLOSED FOR LUNCH 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm
SATURDAY 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
CLOSED SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS.
