TEEN SCENE

Teen Scene is a wonderful opportunity for teens to participate in several exciting events such as DJ Dance Nights at Lake Isle Country Club, trips to professional and college sporting events, games nights at Haindl Field and much, much more! Teen Scene offers a place for teens to get together, have fun and make new friends in a safe, chaperoned environment. We encourage all teens to take advantage of this opportunity.

Registration is exclusive for Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville residents who are currently in grades 7-9. Participants must be present at registration to have their pictures taken for photo identification cards to ensure residency and membership.

February Vacation Camp

This mini day camp will be held at the Tuckahoe Community Center during the February School Break February, 21st-24th. 9:00am-3:00pm with an extended day option until 5:00pm The camp is open to all Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville residents in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Activities at the camp will include arts and crafts, sports and games, two trips and a pizza party and guest entertainment. Registration is limited so sign up today!

 MOTHER/CHILD PLAYGROUP

We are now accepting registrations for the Winter 2012 Mother/Child Playgroup. This two-hour program is designed for caregivers and tots to meet, socialize and play. Enjoy play time, circle time, snack time and craft time. It's always a FUN time! Click the link below for a registration form:

GENERAL INFORMATION 

The diversified recreational programs, under the guidance of the Recreation Advisory Committee and the Superintendent of Recreation, covers all areas of the Town and includes sports, the arts, cultural and social activities that serve children, youths and adults. Activities include basketball, tennis, mother-child playgroups, adult volleyball, martial arts, soccer, tennis, softball leagues for men and women, summer camps, concerts, and theatre. Other programs being offered during the year include special events such as the Annual Ragamuffin Parade, phone calls from Santa, vacation camps, Egg Hunt, and more. Teen Scene is a program specifically designed for grades 7 through 9.  Drop-in game nights are held at the Field House and trips are taken throughout the school year.  Pool parties are held at Lake Isle in the summer months for Teen Scene members. The committee also supports various athletic associations, with provisions for permits for Town fields and other facilities. For a complete schedule of activities for the appropriate season, contact the Eastchester Recreation office in Town Hall.

REGISTRATION

In general, participation in Recreation Department programs is restricted to residents of the Town of Eastchester and the Villages of Tuckahoe and Bronxville.  Registration for programs is accepted only at the Recreation Office and can be delivered in person or by mail.  Phone registrations will not be accepted.  Registration for most programs is limited and will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis, with in-person registrations processed before mail-in registrations.  For most programs, the mail in form located in the current brochure can be used.  Summer camps and Teen Scene require a program specific form.  When mailing in a registration form, please send separate checks for each program.  All checks should be made payable to the "Town of Eastchester".  A $20.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks.  Full payment is expected at the time of registration, and program fees will not be pro-rated.  If you have any questions regarding any of our programs, please call the office at 771-3311.  The office is located on the second floor of the Town Hall Building at 40 Mill Road; please feel free to stop by on any weekday between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM.

REFUND POLICY

Generally, refunds are granted only is a program is cancelled by the Recreation Department.  The Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any program and issue refunds whenever it is considered in the best interest of the Department.  Registrants assume full responsibility for any changes in their personal life, which may affect their ability to participate.  In rare cases, a participant may encounter an unforeseeable, and unavoidable situation that they feel may warrant a refund of fees paid.  These situations will be reviewed on an individual basis by the Superintendent, who will then make a refund determination.  A $25.00 processing fee will be retained by the Town in all cases that refunds, partial refunds, or program transfers are granted.  Camp refunds require a $100.00 processing fee.  For all refunds, proof of payment and a written request stating the reason for the refund is required.

PARK FACILITIES

he Town of Eastchester manages nine major parks, many mini parks and passive areas. Park facilities include baseball and softball fields, soccer and open play fields, Pony/Colt and Little League fields, playgrounds, climbing apparatus, tennis, basketball and horseshoe courts, picnic area with tables, benches, a barbecue grill and restrooms. Some parks have rock gardens, sitting areas, a gazebo and summer concerts. The Town's facilities are supplemented by local school facilities. 

The Town allows group picnics in spring, summer, and early fall months at Labriola Park on weekends and holidays during the hours of 10 AM and dusk.  Labriola Park has a new playground for children to use.  Picnic permits are required and may be obtained at the Recreation Office.  Reserve your space early, anytime after January 2 of the current year.  All permits are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.  No rain dates can be scheduled.  Fees are as follows:

  • $100.00 picnic reservation
  • $100.00 damage deposit (required to hold the date and to be returned after the event provided the facility is left in good condition)
  • $ 70.00 restroom and maintenance fee
  • $ 10.00 alcohol permit fee (must be over 21 years)

GOLF, SWIMMING, AND TENNIS FACILITIES

At the 116 acre Lake Isle Country Club, there is an 18 hole golf course, a five outdoor swimming pool complex, and eight Har-Tru tennis courts. In Leewood Park, there are six additional all-weather tennis courts. Leewood Tennis Courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis for Town residents.  Tennis lessons are available for children and adults.  Lake Isle swimming, golf, and tennis facilities are managed separately.  Contact Lake Isle directly for registration.  Rules for the use of Leewood Tennis Courts are as follows:

  • Courts are for residents of the Town of Eastchester only.
  • Court hours are from 6:00 AM to dark; time of play is limited to one (1) hour.
  • Courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Town of Eastchester Recreation programs take precedence for court use.
  • Tennis shoes or sneakers and shirts must be worn at all times.
  • Dogs are NOT permitted on tennis courts or anywhere in the park.
  • Skate boards, roller blades, scooters, and bicycles are NOT permitted on courts.
  • Glass bottles are NOT permitted on courts.
  • Please use trash and recycling receptacles provided.

SUMMER DAY CAMPS FOR CHILDREN

The Town operates three day camps during the summer for children from five years of age through ninth grade. Camp Rainbow meets from 9:00 AM to 12 noon for six weeks and is for kindergarten through third grade. Camp Galaxy is also for six weeks and is from 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM (extended day until 5:30 PM) and serves first through sixth grade. Camp Quest is a Monday - Friday travel camp, for grades seven through nine, that will depart the home base each day for a new trip adventure, to include a mix of fun and educational activities throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New England. Trips are pre-planned, safe and highly supervised. The trips may include: Great Adventure, Sport Time USA, Mountain Creek Water Park, and many more fun trips.

For those needy families who may be interested in financial aid for summer camp, your camp application form, 20% deposit, and financial aid application form with required income verification must all be in the Recreation Office prior to May 31 for consideration.  We regret that we cannot make exceptions, as we need ample time to carefully review each application.  Financial aid application forms are available at the Recreation Office.
