The Town of Eastchester provides resident commuter parking permits on Scarsdale Avenue to residents of Eastchester, Bronxville and Tuckahoe for a fee of $5.00 a year. The permit allows the permit holder to park in designated long-term commuter spaces from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and deposit coins in the meter. Parking spaces will be available on a first-come-serve basis. The permits are to be renewed on an annual basis.
NEW LICENSE PLATES
Because your license plate number appears on your parking permit, you must obtain a new permit when you get your new license plate. Once you have been issued your new plates: - either fax a copy of your new registration to the Town Clerk's Office at 771-3366, OR - mail a copy of your new registration to the Town Clerk, 40 Mill Road, Eastchester, NY 10709
Grayrock Road Commuter Lot: Please call 771-3351 for an application. Annual, semiannual or quarterly permits available to Metro North Commuters at a base price of $35 per month. All fees are prorated at the time of application and are subject to NY state sales tax. Non-commuters may also purchase a permit. Applications are available from the clerk's office and must be returned with required documentation (driver's license, vehicle registration and monthly commutation ticket) and appropriate fee. Town of Eastchester Parking Lots: Please call the office to determine availability and to request an application.
DOG LICENSES
All dogs over the age of four months must be licensed. The fee is $18 for a male or female dog and $10 for a dog that has been spayed or neutered. Resident must complete application and submit copy of rabies vaccination certificate and spaying or neutering certificate, if applicable, with appropriate fee to Town Clerk's office. Applications may only be accepted from residents of the unincorporated area of Eastchester.
COPIES OF MARRIAGE, BIRTH OR DEATH CERTIFICATES
Copies of vital records for those individuals who were born, died or obtained their marriage license in the Town are on file in the office. Birth and marriage records can only be issued to the person named in the document. Death certificates may be issued to members of the immediate family. Records may be applied for in person with the applicant providing photo i.d., or through the mail. The fee is $10 per copy.
REGISTERING TO VOTE
U.S. citizens 18 years of age and older are eligible to vote, provided they are properly registered. All voter registration is done by mail. Forms are available at the Town Clerk's Office (e-mail), and may be picked up in person or will be sent upon request. The registration form must be completed and mailed to the Board of Elections. Registration forms are also available for download on the Westchester County Board of Elections website.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Applying for an absentee ballot is a two step process. Application forms are available from the Board of Elections or the Town Clerk's office (e-mail), and must be completed and returned to the Board of Elections. The Board will then send the ballot to the applicant. The address of the Board of Elections is: Westchester County Board of Elections, 25 Quarropas Street, White Plains, NY 10601.
OTHER ELECTION INFORMATION
The answers to other election related questions may be obtained by calling the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours. The office opens at 5:30 a.m. on Election Day and remains open until the polls close.
ELECTION WORKERS
Each year the Westchester Board of Elections appoints and trains election workers to work at the town polling locations during the fall elections. If you would like to serve your fellow residents as an Election Inspector, please contact the Board of Elections at 914-995-9902 or 914-995-8568. Inspectors are expected to work a 16-hour day, 5:30am - 9:30pm. Assignment is contingent upon positions being available and the prospective workers having taken the required training offered by the Board of Elections.
OBTAINING A HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMIT
Applications for residents in the unincorporated area of Eastchester only are available from the Town Clerk's Office and must be completed by the applicant and his or her physician. The application is then returned to the office and the permit is issued for a period of up to three years. The permit is valid in any handicapped parking space in New York State and is recognized in 38 other states as well.
HUNTING AND FISHING LICENSES
New York State Conservation Licenses may be obtained at the Town Clerk's Office. Hunters should bring their driver's license and either an old hunting license or a hunter education certificate when applying. Old backtags are not valid proof of eligibility. No certification is necessary for fishing licenses. The fee varies according to license type.
COPIES OF MINUTES, LOCAL LAWS, ETC.
Official copies of minutes of Town Board, Planning Board and Zoning Board minutes are available in the Town Clerk s Office for a fee of 25 cents per page. You may view and download representative electronic copies by clicking on the appropriate link on the left. Zoning Code books are also available for purchase at the office for $35. Books will be mailed for an additional fee to cover postage and handling.
