5. What can be done if I have an interest in a certain program or activity and the Recreation and Parks Department does not offer it?
All that is needed for the operation of a program, assuming it is suitable for a municipality, is that there are enough people to warrant hiring staff, funding and a site. For self-sustaining programs, there has to be enough people enrolled to cover the cost of the program. The Recreation & Parks Department is willing to listen to any ideas for programs. Contact the Superintendent of Recreation at (914) 771-3311.
