5 for Charles Reid. States Mr. McIntyre will be

arriving late.

9 Ms. Brescia: Discusses minutes for June

meeting. Indicates the word quoins was

10 misspelled.

11 Mr. Miller: Makes a motion to approve the June

meeting minutes with the spelling correction.

Ms. Raffiani: Seconds motion.

15 APPLICATION 05-68, 5 DOGWOOD DRIVE

Mr. Petrosanti: Bruno Petrosanti, architect

17 for project. Shows rear elevation of house.

Explains all work is being done at the rear.

18 States this is a through lot. Indicates

project entails a kitchen, bedroom and family

19 room addition in the back of the home which

faces Maple Street. Shows photographs of

20 surrounding homes. Explains they have

introduced stone at the base of the first floor

21 and created a peak at the entrance way. States

they have created a slight arch on the garage

22 to match the front door. States they are using

natural stone colors and a champagne colored

23 vinyl siding. Explains in the rear they

created a one story addition for expansion of

24 the kitchen as well as the deck. Explains to

the left of the kitchen bumping out further

25 there's a family room with a bay window and

another level with a bay window for the master

bedroom. Explains they will have a retaining

2 wall and stone planter. States wall will be no

more than four feet high. Indicates on the

3 right-hand side there's a walk-out basement

with two sliding glass doors. States stucco on

4 the foundation walls are natural color. States

deck will be done in wood. States gutters and

5 liters and trim will be white.

6 Ms. Brescia: Asks to see samples.

7 Mr. Petrosanti: Shows sample of siding.

8 Ms. Uhle: Asks that they provide a materials

and finishes chart for the Planning Board.

Mr. Petrosanti: States roof is Timberline.

Ms. Brescia: Asks if roof is a brown tan

11 color.

12 Mr. Petrosanti: States yes. States roof color

is heather.

Mr. Miller: Feels this will look attractive.

14 Asks if they are changing the windows on the

front.

Mr. Petrosanti: States they could look into

16 making the windows a little bigger in the

front. Explains the windows in the front are

17 fairly new and majority of the work is being

done in the back.

Mr. Miller: Discusses second floor. Suggests

19 using shutters around windows. Feels back

looks very nice. Feels front would benefit

20 from putting color around the windows. Asks if

lighting over garage is going to stay.

Mr. Petrosanti: States yes. States they would

22 probably use a carriage light.

23 Ms. Raffiani: Agrees with Mr. Miller's

comments. Discusses windows. Indicates the

24 difference between the windows in the front up

top is they will be the only windows without

25 divided lights.

Mr. Petrosanti: States divided lights could be

2 added in. States his preference would be to go

with double hung windows with lights and

3 shutters.

4 Mr. Miller: Feels that would balance it out.

5 Ms. Raffiani: Suggests using a fixture above

the garage that looks like it belongs with the

6 light on the lamp post.

7 Mr. Petrosanti: States they will use a

carriage light.

Mr. Miller: Asks if support for overhang will

9 be existing wrought iron.

10 Mr. Petrosanti: Indicates they will change the

column and it will be more of a traditional

11 column rather than wrought iron.

12 Ms. Brescia: Feels the front is much nicer now

with the peak there. Likes the back addition.

13 Asks if lower portion where siding ends will be

stucco.

Mr. Petrosanti: States stucco. Explains

15 they're wrapping the retaining wall around.

16 Ms. Brescia: Feels they need something on the

left side.

Mr. Petrosanti: Explains it's underneath the

18 deck so you won't see it. States they could

put a window in to break it up.

Mr. Miller: Asks height underneath deck.

Mr. Petrosanti: States about seven and a half

21 to eight feet.

22 Ms. Brescia: Makes a motion to open the public

hearing on Application 05-68.

public hearing on Application 05-68.

Mr. Miller: Seconds motion.

Ms. Brescia: States sample for the stone and

6 roof should be brought to the Planning Board

meeting. Suggests using more of a horizontal

7 type stone rather than random.

8 Ms. Uhle: Reviews recommendations: Use a

traditional column at front entrance rather

9 than wrought iron; double hung windows with

shutters on second floor; a carriage light

10 above garage doors rather than existing light

shown; double hung window at the basement level

11 on the proposed left elevation; make sure

retaining wall planter is clearly labeled and

12 delineated on the plans for the Planning Board;

bring roof and stone samples to Planning Board

13 meeting; use rectangular more horizontally

aligned stones rather than random stones for

14 the facade; divided lights on windows in the

front, grills in the window. Asks what siding

15 color is.

16 Mr. Petrosanti: States champagne. Explains

they are replacing all the siding on the house.

17 States roof will be all new.

18 Ms. Uhle: States they need a materials and

finishes schedule for the Planning Board.

Ms. Bonasia: Makes a motion to approve

20 Application 05-68 with the recommendations

reviewed by Ms. Uhle.

2 house. Explains they would like to square off

house in front and rip off the whole second

3 story and turn it into a farmhouse colonial.

States garage would be basement level and a

4 porch across the front of the house. States

siding will be hardy plank Navaho White and

5 roof will be charcoal Timberline. States

chimney will stay the same red brick. States

6 windows are all double hung simulated divided

lights. States liters and trim are all white.

7 Shows photographs of surrounding houses.

8 Mr. Miller: Asks what the height inside the

attic will be.

Mr. Cotugno: States about eleven feet at the

10 peak.

11 Mr. Miller: Asks if this is intended to be

used as any kind of finished area.

Mr. Cotugno: States at the time no. Explains

13 it was designed from the outside in to give a

certain look to the house.

Ms. Uhle: Explains whether it's being finished

15 or not or utilized or not doesn't matter.

Explains all they have to meet is the gross

16 floor area requirement.

17 Mr. Miller: Asks what materials will be on the

retaining walls for the driveway.

Mr. Cotugno: States stone.

Ms. Bonasia: States she likes the window on

20 the front facade on the left side. Explains

she is disappointed with the right side.

Mr. Cotugno: Explains they are not touching

22 the right side.

if they are planning to put landscaping around

Mr. Escaladas: Emilio Escaladas, architect and

3 engineer for the applicant. Discusses

addition. Explains they tried to stay as low

4 as possible to respect the neighbors and to not

look bulky. Explains they're taking the roof

5 that's flat and making it peaked. States

footprint stays the same. Explains they're

6 creating a second floor by raising the rafters.

Feels house will fit in well with respect to

7 the adjacent neighbors. Shows rear view.

Shows front of house. Shows height of existing

8 roof. Shows second floor plan. Explains their

main concern was to keep the massing down.

9 Shows sample of stone. States siding will be

cedar shingles. States trim will be Tarrytown

10 green. Shows samples of siding and stone.

States roof will be asphalt shingle and color

11 will be harvest slate.

12 Ms. Brescia: Asks if cedar will be a natural

color or if it will be sealed.

Mr. Escaladas: Explains cedar will be sealed

14 but they are trying to maintain the natural

color.

Ms. Raffiani: Asks where front elevation is

16 viewed from.

17 Mr. Escaladas: Explains you will not see it

from the front. Explains you will only see it

18 as you approach the house and enter the front.
