Ms. Uhle: States Mr. McIntyre will be

5 arriving late. Calls roll.

10 Ms. Brescia: Makes a motion to approve

the minutes of the April 2006 ARB meeting.

Ms. Raffiani: Seconds motion.

APPLICATION 06-33, CHASE

Ms. Brescia: States they will hear

17 the two Chase applications together.

18 Mr. Stouffer: Wayne Stouffer, San Signs

and Awnings. Explains they are just changing

19 the logo. States they will remove the existing

sign, repair the wall, re-paint, clean

20 everything and reinstall a two inch deep panel

which has back lit channel letters.

Ms. Brescia: Asks color of pan.

Mr. Stouffer: States pan is same color

23 as building. States pan is mounted on the

building.

Ms. Brescia: Asks if it's white letters

25 on a white pan on a white building.

Mr. Stouffer: States yes.

Ms. Brescia: Feels you will not be able

4 to read that. Asks if there is an edging

around the letter.

Mr. Stouffer: States it's probably a

6 gray background with a white letter.

7 Ms. Raffiani: States side view at letter

has blue on side.

Ms. Bonasia: States symbol is blue in

9 the front and gray on the side and it's reverse

with the letters.

Mr. Miller: States Board is concerned

11 with how do you see white on white on white.

12 Mr. Stouffer: Explains the edge of the

letters are blue so that's how you see it.

Ms. Raffiani: Feels they look more like

14 internally lit letters.

15 Mr. Stouffer: Explains they're reverse

lit.

Ms. Brescia: States it would look more

17 like the Lord & Taylor sign. States height of

sign is indicated at two feet for the letters.

18 Explains that could only be eighteen inches

because it's not seventy-five feet from the

19 curb. States pan has to be eighteen inches.

20 Mr. Stouffer: States logo will be

eighteen and letters will be smaller according

21 to the logo.

22 Ms. Brescia: States letters could be no

bigger than sixteen inches. Asks if night

23 deposit box is already there.

24 Mr. Stouffer: States it's existing.

25 Ms. Brescia: Asks about blue band across

the front.

Mr. Stouffer: Explains it's a vinyl band

3 with their logo on the inside.

4 Ms. Brescia: Explains technically logos

are not allowed.

Ms. Bonasia: States she has no objection

6 with Chase and the logo but when they reinforce

it at the bottom it's overdone.

Mr. Stouffer: Asks if they could do a

8 blue band with no logo on it.

9 Ms. Brescia: States yes. States sign on

the side is supposed to be no more than fifty

10 percent of the sign on the front.

11 Ms. Uhle: States applicant did reduce it

by fifty percent.

Ms. Brescia: Discusses ATM sign.

Ms. Uhle: States sign on the side of the

14 facade is okay as long as it's fifty percent of

the one on the front. States ATM machine is

15 fine.

16 Ms. Brescia: Explains side sign has to

be fifty percent of the dimensions of the new

17 front sign. Makes a motion to approve

Application 06-33 subject to those conditions.

Mr. McIntyre: Seconds motion.

APPLICATION 06-42, CHASE

23 Ms. Brescia: Asks if these are the types

of letters that come through the metal.

Mr. Stouffer: States yes.

Ms. Raffiani: Asks if they're

2 illuminated from behind or internal.

3 Mr. Stouffer: Believes sign is not

illuminated.

Mr. McIntyre: States they will review it

5 as a non-illuminated sign.

6 Ms. Brescia: States night deposit sign

is same as other building so that's okay.

7 Discusses ATM sign.

8 Mr. McIntyre: States ATM is illuminated.

9 Ms. Brescia: States it's a box sign and

those are not permitted so they have to do

10 something different. Feels they need light but

box signs are not permitted. Discusses

11 monument sign. States technically monument

signs are not allowed. Feels they have plenty

12 of signs on the building and it is not

necessary. Discusses sign hanging in the

13 window. Explains logos are not allowed.

14 Mr. Stouffer: States window sign is

existing.

Ms. Raffiani: Explains they could only

16 have two signs.

17 Ms. Brescia: Discusses primary sign.

Explains if they want illumination they have to

18 come back. States the sign on the side is

bigger than allowed but it fits into the space.

19 Feels it looks fine.

20 Ms. Uhle: Reviews recommendations:

Night deposit sign is okay; ATM sign they have

21 to come back because box signs are not

permitted; monument sign is not permitted;

22 individual logo is not permitted; primary sign

on front elevation is okay and we're assuming

23 it's non-illuminated, if it is going to be

illuminated you have to come back; secondary

24 sign on the canopy for the ATM sign is okay and

also is non-illuminated.

APPLICATION 06-36, BLACK BELT TAE KWON DO

7 Mr. Hwang: John Hwang. Explains old

structure was there and they're changing the

8 cover.

9 Ms. Brescia: Asks if they're taking the

yellow box sign off.

Mr. Hwang: States yes.

Ms. Brescia: States they should repair

12 the wall and make it look nice.

13 Mr. Hwang: States they will paint the

wall.

Ms. Bonasia: Asks if they would consider

15 a green canopy or any other color that has been

established in the town rather than the black

16 color.

17 Mr. Hwang: States they thought about

doing it navy blue. Explains the reason they

18 did it black is it's one of four schools in

Westchester.

Ms. Brescia: Feels black is very stark.

20 Suggests they do the navy blue.

21 Mr. Hwang: States they could do the navy

blue.

Ms. Brescia: Explains logos are not

23 permitted. States if there is a simpler design

the Board will take a look at it. States phone

24 number is not allowed. States they could have

the street number. Suggests moving the street

25 number to where the phone number is.

2 Ms. Uhle: Reviews conditions: Navy blue

canopy; logo is not permitted; phone number is

3 not permitted; recommendation the address be

moved to where the phone number is; paint and

4 repair the wall where the box sign will be

removed.

Application 06-36 as modified.

Mr. Brockner: Steve Brockner. Explains

12 they're changing the letter style on the sign,

the colors will remain the same. States vinyl

13 logos in the windows will be changed also.

14 Ms. Brescia: Asks if those are existing

now.

Mr. Brockner: States yes. States they

16 will be the same size, same color.

17 Mr. McIntyre: Makes a motion to approve

Application 06-38 as submitted.

Ms. Brescia: Seconds motion.

APPLICATION 06-40, A CLEANER, 2 MILL ROAD

Mr. John: States he is proposing a new

24 front and side sign.

25 Ms. Uhle: Explains when the Planning

Board reviewed it previously for the antique

2 store they did permit the sign on the roof

because of the unique circumstances.

Mr. McIntyre: Feels this is a different

4 situation. States there is a light on the roof

being proposed.

Mr. Miller: Believes fluorescent

6 lighting is not allowed. States lighting will

have to be done some other way.

Ms. Brescia: States front sign cannot be

8 any bigger than eighteen inches. Asks instead

of putting the sign on the roof can they put it

9 under the overhang.

10 Mr. John: Explains in order to do that

they would have to make it smaller.

Ms. Brescia: Explains they would have to

12 make it smaller any way. Suggest putting it

under the eve. States sign on the side is not

13 allowed. States sign in the front is going to

have to be made no deeper than eighteen inches

14 and should go in the space above the door, it's

not permitted on the roof.

Mr. McIntyre: Explains Board would like

16 to replicate some of the signs that have been

approved in the last few months on that strip.

17 Explains they can't have a box sign and there

isn't enough space to put gooseneck to

18 illuminate the sign. States there may be some

type of lighting they could incorporate into

19 the eves.

20 Ms. Uhle: Asks if Board wants applicant

to come back with a different sign put under

21 the eve.

22 Mr. McIntyre: States he would like this

applicant to come back. Asks applicant to look

23 at the new signs and come back to Board with

another drawing that's eighteen inches, look at

24 the quality of the sign with lighting that fits

in with the rest of the buildings there.
