San Signs: States this is the sign for

18 the ATM. States this is the non-illuminated

version of the sign. Explains it's a plaque

19 that will be pinned in.

20 Ms. Brescia: Asks if they're wrapping

the whole entrance.

San Signs: Explains they are just the

22 installer of this sign.

23 Ms. Brescia: Makes a motion to approve

Application 06-42 as submitted.

2 APPLICATION 06-40, A CLEANERS

4 Applicant: Explains they redesigned the

sign and put it on the roof. States he likes

5 burgundy color, second choice is hunter green.

States the letter color will be white.

Ms. Brescia: Asks why sign is not flat

7 on the wall.

8 Applicant: Explains the front to the

door is twenty inches deep.

Ms. Brescia: Asks if you will see the

10 edge of sign and pipes sticking out.

11 Ms. Raffiani: Believes you will not be

able to see sides of sign. Explains sign

12 shouldn't be any further out from the other

building. Explains they don't want to see the

13 back of the pipes holding the sign. States she

doesn't have a problem with the burgundy color.

Mr. Miller: States he's fine with the

15 burgundy color.

16 Ms. Raffiani: Makes a motion to approve

Application 06-40 with the newly presented

17 application with the burgundy color.

18 Mr. Miller: Seconds motion.

there.

Applicant: Explains when they put the

25 new sign up they will take the box sign down.

the sign that was approved already.

Applicant: States yes.

Ms. Bonasia: Asks if they are removing

6 the sign that's in the window.

Application 06-51 as per specified in the

13 APPLICATION 06-62, MICKEY SPILLANE'S

Mr. Heinz: Michael Heinz, owner of

15 Mickey Spillane's. States he would like to

keep the temporary sign as the permanent sign.

Mr. Miller: Asks how tall the existing

17 letters are.

18 Mr. Heinz: States twelve inches.

19 Ms. Brescia: Feels it's a very nice

sign. Makes a motion to approve Application

20 06-62 as submitted and installed.

21 Ms. Bonasia: Seconds motion.

24 APPLICATION 06-67 CAROL'S FLOWER AND GIFT

Applicant: States length of the store is

2 eleven feet by six inches, background color is

green, first letter color is gold and second

3 letter color is black.

4 Ms. Brescia: Asks if existing awning

will be coming down.

Applicant: States yes.

Ms. Raffiani: Explains the tie on awning

7 and any secondary signs need to come down, they

are illegal.

Applicant: States they will take care of

9 it as soon as possible.

10 Ms. Raffiani: States size of the sign is

eight feet.

Applicant: States size of store is

12 eleven feet six inches.

13 Ms. Raffiani: Explains they need to make

sure the final sign is eight feet and flat

14 against the building.

15 Ms. Brescia: States old box sign has to

come off and any repairs need to be made to the

16 back.

17 Mr. McIntyre: States he would like to

see a more aesthetically pleasing sign as

18 opposed to a basic flat panel. Feels this is

bland and could be nicer. Recommends a sign

19 with a more traditional and quaint feel as

opposed to what's presented here. States

20 applicant has been in violation and conducting

business with a temporary sign for a year and a

21 half. Feels this is an opportunity to set a

precedent.

Ms. Brescia: Feels they have an

23 opportunity to set the tone for that whole

stretch of stores there.

Mr. McIntyre: Recommends applicant look

25 at the signs for Cartridge World and Choice

Bagel, explains that's the aesthetic Board is

2 looking for.

3 Ms. Raffiani: Asks that they stay away

from the shiny finishes and use something a

4 little more matte.

5 Ms. Brescia: Asks that they resubmit to

the building department and the Board will make

6 arrangements to look at the new sign.

8 APPLICATION 06-32, 46 MORGAN STREET

10 Mr. Cotugno: John Cotugno, architect for

the project. Explains they were granted a

11 variance to re-build a two family house on this

lot. States house will front on Merritt.

12 States they will have brick for the base of the

porch, blue stone for the floor of the porch,

13 hardy plank siding in a cream color with dark

green shutters. States driveway will be on

14 Morgan Street side. States roof will be a

charcoal color. Shows sample of materials.

15 Shows photographs of houses in the

neighborhood.

Ms. Brescia: Discusses location of new

17 home.

18 Mr. McIntyre: Feels the one thing that

sticks out are the two single doors. States

19 none of the neighboring properties have double

doors. Suggests creating an internal hallway

20 to introduce one entry door.

21 Mr. Cotugno: States he will look at that

and try to accomplish it.

Mr. McIntyre: Feels making it look like

23 a one family home would make a big difference.

Asks if there is a two car garage.

Mr. Cotugno: States yes.

Mr. McIntyre: Asks if there is parking

4 Mr. McIntyre: Asks where condenser units

are located.

Mr. Cotugno: Indicates in the rear yard.

Mr. McIntyre: Asks if any external

7 lighting is proposed.

8 Mr. Cotugno: States high hats in the

soffit along the front. States there will be

9 wall mounted carriage sconces by the exits.

10 Mr. McIntyre: Asks that they note that

on the drawings.

Ms. Brescia: Makes a motion to open the

12 public hearing on Application 06-32.

13 Ms. Raffiani: Seconds motion.

16 Ms. Brescia: Suggests building a brick

chimney.

Mr. Cotugno: States he will speak to his

18 client about that.

19 Ms. Raffiani: Feels double doors are a

moot point because there are so many two

20 families in the neighborhood.

21 Ms. Bonasia: Agrees chimney should be

brick.

Mr. McIntyre: Asks if railings off

23 second floor deck are pressure treated and then

there are wrought iron railings in the front.

Mr. Cotugno: Explains the balcony is

25 different from the stair railing on the front.

States they will be the same color.

2 Mr. McIntyre: Feels there should be some

consistency with the railings other than color.

3 Suggests putting a wood deck on the front

rather than the wrought iron.

Ms. Brescia: Makes a motion to close the

5 public hearing on Application 06-32.

6 Mr. Miller: Seconds motion.

8 Ms. Ouellette: Reviews recommendations:

Consider one outside door instead of two; use

9 brick for the chimney; have a consistency in

the materials for the railings with a

10 recommendation of wood railings; exterior

lighting be addressed on the front and rear

11 facade and side.

12 Ms. Brescia: Makes a motion to approve

Application 06-32 with the recommendations

13 discussed.

14 Ms. Raffiani: Seconds motion.

Describes house. States they will be using

20 hardy plank. Explains they are not changing

the peak of the roof. States they were granted
