Ms. Uhle: States Rose Brescia may not be

8 able to attend tonight's meeting and Mr. Papale

is running late.

Mr. McIntyre: Makes a motion to approve

11 the minutes from the February 7th, 2008

Architectural Review Board meeting.

Ms. Raffiani: Seconds motion.

15 Application 08-10,

16 Ms. Rivera: Rebecca Rivera, Joseph

Crocco Architects. States they are here before

17 board with a single family house in an R-6 zone

on an oversized lot. States they are proposing

18 to add an additional bedroom on the second

floor. Shows plan. States they are proposing

19 a dormer on the left side. Explains they

brought the dormer down to seven foot high.

20 States they are proposing gray Victorian siding

to match the existing shingles on the roof.

21 States they will accent the top of the dormer

with siding shakes. States they will have

22 white decorative columns at the front entrance.

23 Mr. McIntyre: Asks if there is stone,

siding and shake siding on the front.

Ms. Rivera: States yes. Explains stone

25 currently exists on the bottom. States they

are replacing the old siding with Victorian

gray vinyl siding. States shake finish is also

2 Victorian gray.

3 Ms. Raffiani: Discusses front door.

Feels curve accentuates the fact that the door

4 is off center.

5 Ms. Rivera: States they could make it

flat.

Ms. Raffiani: Discusses second floor

7 rear windows. Asks if there is anything that

could be done to fix those windows.

Ms. Rivera: Explains the windows are

9 raised higher to accommodate a child's bed set.

10 Ms. Bonasia: Feels if they readjust the

windows even in the front it would look better.

Ms. Rivera: Explains she could only move

12 the front windows down about two inches.

13 Ms. Raffiani: Discusses first floor

elevation on right side.

Mr. Papale: Feels windows on the second

15 floor in the back are too small.

16 Ms. Rivera: States she could put a high

window in the bathroom. Explains with regard

17 to the dining room window they are very close

to the neighbor.

Mr. McIntyre: Makes a motion to open the

19 public hearing on Application 08-10.

Mr. McIntyre: States some members of the

3 board have expressed concerns about some of the

new windows and the fact that there is

4 dissimilarity between the windows in the

bedroom and the window in the bathroom. Asks

5 if there is anything they might be able to add

so they get some symmetry with the new windows.

Ms. Rivera: States they could either

7 raise the bathroom window to align with the

bedroom or they could add another smaller

8 window to the bathroom windows.

9 Mr. McIntyre: Explains Ms. Raffiani felt

the right side elevation appears stark because

10 it's lacking in windows in the kitchen, dining

area.

Ms. Rivera: Explains there is furniture

12 in that room and the location next to the

neighbor prohibits them from adding windows.

Mr. McIntyre: States the other issue was

14 over the front door they will flatten the

overhang.

Mr. Papale: Feels with regard to the

16 second floor rear elevation they are

compromising an elevation for a piece of

17 furniture inside.

18 Ms. Rivera: Explains it's in the back

yard.

Ms. Raffiani: Makes a motion to move

20 Application 08-10 along to the Planning Board

with the recommendations discussed.

Mr. Finelli: Mike Finelli, representing

3 the home owners. Explains they are putting a

second story addition on an existing one story

4 cape. States home owners are looking to expand

to get a little more living space. States they

5 are adding a second story. Explains they are

taking down a single story enclosed sun porch

6 and have expanded out toward the rear. States

they are asking for permission to move a shed

7 from the righthand corner of the property to

the lefthand corner to open the rear yard and

8 give them a little more back yard space after

the addition is done. States there are no

9 variances required.

10 Mr. McIntyre: Asks if they are keeping

the existing footprint.

Mr. Finelli: States they are keeping the

12 existing footprint. Explains they are bumping

out seventeen feet to the rear at the deepest

13 point which will be a breakfast bay. States

they are putting a family room on the

14 right-hand side of the rear addition. Explains

they are trying to design the house to give it

15 more of a colonial feel. States they are

planning to use a bluish color hardy plank

16 siding, white trim, roof is a thirty year

architectural roof. States shutters will be a

17 dark navy blue, front door will be navy blue.

Shows sample of hardy plank. Explains hardy

18 plank is a slate blue more towards a gray

color. Shows sample of shutter. States

19 windows will be white vinyl. States trim will

be white.

Mr. McIntyre: Asks if on the front and

21 side elevation there is a piece of trim that

delineates the top of the second floor.

Mr. Finelli: States yes. Explains they

23 have a freeze board that will be eight inches

in height.

Ms. Raffiani: Asks if they thought about

25 making the chimney brick.

Mr. Finelli: States they are thinking

3 about doing it stone. Explains it's a monetary

issue.

Mr. McIntyre: Feels it would

5 authenticate the home.

6 Mr. Finelli: Agrees. Feels it would

give it a classic look.

Mr. McIntyre: Asks if roof on front

8 porch will be asphalt.

9 Mr. Finelli: States yes.

10 Mr. McIntyre: Makes a motion to open the

public hearing on Application 08-08.

improvement to the existing house. States he

19 would like to see a stone base, stone chimney.

20 Mr. McIntyre: Asks what color the

gutters will be.

Mr. McIntyre: Discusses AC condensers.

Mr. Finelli: Shows location of the

24 existing air condenser.

25 Mr. McIntyre: Asks about exterior

lighting.

Mr. Finelli: Explains most of the

3 lighting will be recessed. States they will

have something over the sliding door in the

4 rear. States any lighting they add will be

small and carriage style.

Mr. McIntyre: Feels the architecture

6 looks nice, the colors will make it pop and

it's a huge improvement on what's there. Feels

7 if the home owners can do something about going

for the upgrade on the chimney that will

8 enhance this project and make it invaluably

better.

Ms. Uhle: Reviews recommendations: Do

10 the chimney in stone or brick and show the AC

units on the plan.

Ms. Bonasia: Makes a motion to approve

12 Application 08-08 with the recommendations.

APPLICATION 08-09, 40 NELSON ROAD

17 Mr. Tomano: Richard Tomano, architect.

States proposal is for a one family modular

18 dwelling. States it's a pre-fab home on a

vacant lot. Shows houses on each side. States

19 this will be set back thirty-five feet.

Explains house will have an open porch with an

20 inclined driveway. States it will be vinyl

siding, asphalt roof. States retaining wall

21 for the driveway will be keystone. States

there is an ornamental balcony in the front of

22 the house. Shows sample of siding.

23 Westchester Modular: Shows sample of

shutters. States balcony and railings will be

24 pressure treated wood.
