NEW - EFFECTIVE APRIL 25, 2016 - BEVERAGE CARTONS ARE NOW RECYCLABLE AND SHOULD BE PLACED OUT FOR COLLECTION WITH OTHER COMMINGLED ITEMS (SEE BELOW LINK)
LOCAL LAW REQUIRES that Recyclables be placed out in your recycling bin or labeled container at curbside NO EARLIER than the night before the scheduled collection day or before 7:00 a.m. on the designated collection day. Place a weight on top of newspapers to prevent their blowing away. In case of rain, cover the newspapers. Rinse food and beverage containers thoroughly. Please refer to your Sanitation & Recycling Pickup Schedule (located above). The attached Recycling Guideline provides a detailed outline of which items are Recyclable as well as some additional pickups.
COMMINGLED - PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ITEMS CODED 1 - 7 ARE RECYCLABLE.
Residential Food Scrap Recycling - A 24/7 Food Scrap Recycling Drop-off is available for TOWN RESIDENTS at the dead end of Farella Way. This program is Residential use only, NOT for Commercial use. This voluntary program involves separating food scraps from your household trash. For sanitary purposes food scraps must be placed within a compostable BPI Certified bag purchased by the resident from local retailer. BPI certified bags are available for purchase at the Town Clerk's office located at 40 Mill Road.
Please see two below links for guidelines and regulations on how to recycle food scraps. Questions should be addressed to the Highway Department at 914-961-8540.
