Library hours are Monday and Wednesdays, 9 A.M. to 9 P.M.; Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.; and Sundays (until May) 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Saturday during July and August. With a collection of donated books as a beginning, the Eastchester Library (located in a room in the old Town Hall building) opened in March 1947. By 1959 it had been granted its permanent charter. The Library is governed by a seven member Board of Trustees appointed by the Town Board. The Eastchester Public Library is a member of the Westchester Library System which enables card-holders to borrow materials directly from any of the 38 member libraries.
